The Role/Benefits of Meditation on Menopause and Insomnia
Menopause is a time of life in a woman that is associated with absent menstruation due to the age- associated degeneration of the ovary.
In a woman’s life, time is very essential. The ovary, whicRh is the organ that produces the eggs is something that works with age. Starting from about the age of 45 years, the woman begins to have irregular menstruation as a sign that menopause is underway.
On average, menopause (cessation of menses ) occurs at age of 51 years. Some may see menopause before this time, others might go beyond 51 years.
Common Symptoms of menopause
- Lack of sleep (Insomnia)
- Getting angry easily
- Absence of menstruation for a long time
- Dryness of the vagina
- Painful intercourse
- Hot flushes
- Awareness of your heart beat
- Mood swings
- Feeling hot inside your body
- Join pain
- Loss of memory
Role of Meditation on Menstruation and symptoms
In a study carried out in 2020, the effect of meditation on menopausal symptoms were checked. Working women within their transition from premenopause to menopause were used for the study.
The results showed that meditation could serve as a means of treating menopausal symptoms in women. The evidence showed that there was an improvement in the quality of life as well as in the symptoms those women experienced.
The researchers, based in Brazil are of the opinion that meditation could serve as a non pharmacogical way of treating menopausal symptoms.
Now the issue is this, menopause is an irreversible time of life. There is nothing that could be done about that. The only thing to be done is to minimize the symptoms and improve quality of life while living with it.
One of the means, is by hormone replacement. The hormones which the ovary are suppose to produce are replaced as drugs.
But this has been associated with increased chances of having cancer of the breast and endometrial cancer.
Personally if I’m to advise, the risk associated with hormone replacement is not worth taking. This is where this meditation comes into play.
Meditation is non pharmacogical. You are not taking any Drugs that may predispose you to any side effect.
Effects of Meditation on Insomnia (lack of sleep)
Insomnia is a top symptom of menopause. The study also approved that meditation improves the discomfort of insomnia and improves quality of life.
Any Side effect of Meditation during Menopause
Meditation has been a very substantial part of life, whether for spiritual purposes or for health. There is no harm in meditation. Rather it helps you to live a more organized and purpose-filled life, coupled with happier menopause experience .
In conclusion, meditation is good both for your menopause, insomnia and during the menopausal age. It relieves you of alot of symptoms and improves the quality of life.
